Venice - from sea, Italy

Continuing from last week’s post, I would like to share with you more photos of Venice from sea. As I mentioned before, Venice is an island; water transportation is important and essential. We took the cruise to Venice. Arriving in the morning and leaving in the afternoon gave me a very good opportunity to take photos in different light conditions. The view of the city from the cruise deck is amazing and much better than from a helicopter.

You may not know what the MOSE project is, but you would probably infer that Venice is occasionally threatened by floods. MOSE stands for MOdulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico, and the name Mosè is also the Italian name for Moses who divided the waters of the Red Sea. If you come from the sea, you can see the project under construction.

If you are not coming from sea, you should take a trip to other nearby islands and see Venice from sea. There are plenty of attractions in Venice, such as St Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, Lido di Venezia, and of course, the Piazza San Marco.

Did you know that many movies sets filmed in Venice such as the 1955 Katherine Hepburn in Summertime, some 007 James Bond film series, and Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in The Tourist? Hope you enjoy the photos and the weekend.
