Monaco is known worldwide for having no income tax, having low business taxes, and being a tax haven for the rich and famous. There are two major ports in Monaco: Port Hercule, the bigger one where cruises can dock, and Port de Fontvieille. Monaco is the 2nd smallest country in the world. Its territory is only 2.02 km2 (0.78 mi2) with a population of less than 40,000. Monaco is surrounded by France in 4.4 km (2.7 mi) borderlines of its three sides, and the other one is by the coastline of 4.1 km (2.5 mi).
We took a short drive from seaport to a nearby huge parking lot. Because it is built on the cliff, you will find yourself in a park when you go upstairs. It was a unique experience for us. We went along the seaside park and took the uphill path with stairs, which is a bit tiring for older people. The view is gorgeous; you can see those millionaires' super yachts and fancy cruise ships along the beautiful coastline of Liguria. We saw Lady Moura super yacht owned by a Saudi Arabian businessman - Nasser Al-Rashid. After we got on the street, we were right at the front of the Musee Oceanographique de Monaco - a museum of marine sciences. After that, we visited the Monaco Cathedral and then the Prince's Palace (Palais Princier de Monaco). We traveled down a sidewalk after visiting Monaco Cathedral towards the seaside. From here we had a wonderful view of the Port de Fontvieille. This is where the luxury apartments for the rich and famous are. They also have heliports to transfer people to and from France. A unit of 300 m2 (3,230 ft2) with sea view can easily cost over 10 million Euro.
It is worth the time to stroll around Monaco-Ville in a lovely morning. Next time, I will find time to see the Musee Oceanographique de Monaco. I believe the inside of the museum is as attractive as its architecture outside.
