After we visited Luray Caverns, we discussed if we wanted to see the nearby Car and Carriage Caravan Museum. My brother said that we still had time to take a look at the museum. It was surprising that the museum displayed quite a number of early age carriages and cars. They are all Antiques & Vintage Collectibles. I have never seen a museum with so many well maintained and beautiful classic cars in one place.
You can find the early 1896 French Peugeot to the 1941 Lincoln. Some of the car manufacturers no longer exist. Among all the beautiful cars on display, I love the 1931 124 HP Pierce-Arrow car the most. The light yellow color with navy blue grille and stylish headlights make it so elegant. It was also interesting to learn that the 1892 Benz was equipped with a tiny 5 HP, 1-cylinder engine. I do not know if those cars are still functional. If you drive one of the cars on the street, you would certainly attract everybody's attention.
They also have fancy carriages, wagons, coaches, baby buggies and high wheel bicycles. They must have a team of technicians to maintain the displays to its origin. Take your time to enjoy the extremely rare 1932 Rolls Royce Shooting Brake and Rudolph Valentine's 1925 Silver Ghost Town Car. There was a Stanley Steamer, a Baker Electric and the oldest auto in operating condition on display in America - the 1892 Benz Vis-a-vis.
Remember to visit the museum after your Luray Caverns tour. The admission is included in the Luray Caverns’ admission.
