Times Square, New York City, NY, USA

If you are in New York City, you will regret it if you did not visit Times Square. When we arrived in NYC the first day, we went to Times Square in the afternoon and at night. When we were there in the afternoon, there was an event, and Times Square was blocked off for the event. It is unbelievable that you can hold an event in such a major traffic interjunction.

I believe most of us have heard the name of Times Square and the New Years Countdown; watching the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve is a major event for the New Year. December 31, 1907 was the first New Year's Day ball drop at Times Square. You may not know the boundary of Times Square. It is between Broadway and Seventh Avenue, and West 42nd and West 47th Streets. The TKTS Times Square Booth is an ideal place to start with. You can climb the stairs on the red roof for a panoramic, clear view of Times Square. It is a perfect place to take photos and watch people. It also provides seating for events.

Time Square is full of people, day and night. You can find variety of shops and restaurants. It is very attractive to see it at night with those big and bright LED displays. Some of them are HD displays. Most of them are advertising, but it is interesting to see them all over the place. It is also a good place to buy Broadway tickets at a discounted price. Even at midnight you can still see lots of people hanging around. Starting from February 2011, Times Square became a smoke free area.
