You will be surprised to find a public park, Bryant Park, in the middle of the biggest concrete jungle – New York City. You can enjoy a smoke-free environment while visiting the park thanks to the law prohibiting smoking in NYC's public parks that went into effect on May 23, 2011.
We went there around noon and saw lots of people sitting in the park, having lunch in the open air, and enjoying the sunshine. I could not recall any other big cities I visited with skyscrapers around can afford such a park with settings to allow people to relax during their lunch break. Don’t get me wrong, the park is open daily from 7:00 am until late night. It is like an oasis that makes you slow down and feel relax.
Bryant Park is a WiFi "Hot Spot", so you can just bring your WiFi enabled gadgets and enjoy the park. The park even promotes its WiFi – “Go wireless and turn Bryant Park into your new office. Your clients will be impressed with your front lobby.”
Bryant Park was celebrating its 20th anniversary when we visited in 2012. It was redesigned in 1992 by Bryant Park Corporation - a nonprofit, private management company. With more than 6 million visitors annually, it is the most popular public park in the world.
Bryant Park is more than just a garden; you can sit, eat, talk, work, take the Le Carrousel, ice skate at the Citi Pond in the winter for free, and attend varies events - concerts, performances, product launches. You can conclude the unforgettable visit with a meal in one of the restaurants around it.
