You may not know that Boston’s waterfront is now 47 miles long from the south of Dorchester through South Boston, downtown, the North End, Charlestown, and finally to East Boston. Eighty-five percent of the shore is a pedestrian-friendly stretch known as the HarborWalk. We only walked a tiny part of it on the Long Wharf.
It was a pleasant walking on the waterfront of Boston Harbor for a late summer afternoon. We enjoyed the breeze from the sea while strolling along the shore. There were many people just like us wandering around without any particular purpose. You can see many beautiful yachts and busy harbor transportation. The harbor was once dirty, and the smell stopped people from coming to visit, but now you can even see ducks playing on the shore. Many of the harbor tours start from here such as Boston Harbor Cruise and Super Duck Tour. There are many good restaurants along the waterfront such as Legal Sea Foods, Joe's American Bar and Grill and Tia’s. The Old Town Trolley Tours stops here as well.
Nearby, there are many attractions that worth visiting. The New England Aquarium opened in 1969 with a Simons IMAX Theatre, containing the largest screen in New England. The Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park is a place you can sit down and enjoy people watching. Across the Atlantic Ave. and John F Fitzgerald Surface Road is the Faneuil Hall Marketplace that includes the famous Quincy Market. If you have time, you can go discover North End.
