Roman Forum, Rome, Italy

The Roman Forum (Forum Romanum) is located next to the Colosseum. You can visit both the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in one day. I would suggest paying a visit to the Tabularium at the western end of the Forum. It is a record office that was the warehouse for official State archives, and there is an excellent panoramic view over the Forum. Exploring the Forum involves a lot of walking and is hard to find a shaded spot during the hot summer weather. Wearing a hat and comfortable shoes with bottles of water are recommended.

The Roman Forum is an ancient social, business and political center similar to the capitals of modern countries. It was originally a marketplace and later developed with several government buildings. It became a power center of Rome for centuries. The Roman Forum today is an area of ruins of temples, arches and basilicas

It was not until the 18th century that the Forum was rediscovered, and the process to restore the ancient ruins was started. The restoration brought this long-standing historical site back to life. The site includes the temples of Concord, Vespasian, the Porticus of the Dei Consentes on the west, the Temple of Saturn, Basilica Iulia, the Temple of Castor and Pollux on the south, the Temple of Vesta and the Regia on the east, and the Basilica Aemilia and Curia Iulia on the north.
