Trinity Church, Boston, MA, USA

This unique 135 year old Trinity Church is in the Back Bay of Boston. The Richardsonian Romanesque style of the Trinity Church and parish house was designed by Henry Hobson Richardson and constructed between 1872 and 1877. The original plan was to find a site for a new church, but after the Great Fire of 1872 destroyed the second Trinity Church building on Summer Street speeded up the construction of the new church.

More than a century ago, there were no modern materials, so they used Monson granite, Longmeadow sandstone and wooden piles. The church sits on a mud flat with more than 4000 wooden piles supporting it. American Institute of Architects (AIA) listed Trinity Church in their top 10 list of American buildings since 1885.

Inside the church, the stained glass windows are very astonishing, and the organs feature 121 stops, 113 ranks, and 6,898 pipes. The famous Candlelight Carols at Trinity Church is a traditional event in every December celebrating the birth of Christ through music performed by the choirs of Trinity Church. The latest development of the Back Bay brought two new buildings to the Copley Square - the skyscraping Hancock Tower and the neo-classical Boston Public Library. It is incredible to see the church's reflection on the building facade. After you leave the church, you should walk around the church and see it from different angles.
