Arrowtown, New Zealand

Arrowtown is a beautiful little town. The living historic gold mining town of Arrowtown is just 20 km northeast of Queenstown. Many of the buildings in the main street were built during the days of gold mining. Worldwide attention has been received recently with some of The Lord of the Rings trilogy filmed in and around Arrowtown and surroundings. On the main street, you can find variety of shops, number of superb cafes & restaurants.

Nearby you can visit The Chinese Settlement - Built by the Chinese miners from 1868. The Settlement includes Ah Lum's Store and outhouse, which operated until 1972. Much of the Settlement was unearthed in 1983 and some parts recreated.
